Mica is the name given to a group of sparkling minerals that are physically and chemically similar. They are silicate minerals know as sheet silicate because they form in distinct layers. The layers are soft and flexible, with a MOH’s hardness ranging from 2.5 – 3. There are 37 different types of Mica. One form commonly known as eisenglas has been used in sheets to make a window in stoves.
